The Nigerian Ambassador to Germany, Hon. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, addressed the complaints made by members of the Nigerian community in Germany about service delivery at the embassy. This included difficulty in acquiring appointments for passport issuance.

The Nigerian community have been advised to employ patience as there is a backlog of appointments scheduled since the wake of the pandemic. These people would have to be served first to reduce the waiting list.

A news appointment had to be introduced because the former one had been compromised by some unscrupulous elements. The new system was therefore created to make life easy for Nigerians.

The ambassador also assured that emergency cases would first be attended to by the Embassy to prevent Nigerians from encountering difficulties because their passports expired. Those affected are to send an email to the Embassy.

Some Nigerians were missing out opportunities and getting warnings because of being in the country with invalid passports and hence it was necessary that the embassy start functioning at full capacity again.

The Ambassador said the Embassy’s service delivery was also hindered by its limited staff capacity and stock of materials available.

“The Embassy lacks the capacity to adequately address the demand for its services and Nigeria does not have the means to expand the capacity at the moment due to the country’s economic situation,” he added.
